The Tavern
The King's Royal Regiment of New York and Company of Select Marksmen, with support from other Crown and Continental units, will host a Tavern and an establishment for genteel entertainment all evening on Saturday, where the best of liquors will be served to elevate your senses, served by the most beautiful ladies in the most genteel manner. In addition, for your entertainment, the hosts will offer certain tables for those of a sporting bent, including FARO and other games of chance, and space in which ladies and gentlemen may choose to play whist or such games of their own devising. Prize Fighting both armed and unarmed may also be offered.
The tavern will serve rum punch made in the correct manner until the supply of donated rum is exhausted. Individuals and units wishing to donate a bottle of rum (especially that nice cheap rum you can get in duty free!) should ask for
Sjt. Nicholas Cioran at registration. The tavern can't operate without these donations, and with over a thousand participants registered, they will be needed!
The Tavern management would also like to note that some donations of CLARET would allow those of a less bilious disposition, as well as those less inclined to drink spirits, a respite from rum.
Finally, the tavern rules:
The tavern charges 18th century prices for 18th century drinks. A bowl of punch costs tuppence, for example. You will need four halfpence or the equivalent to start a bowl of punch. Where does the money come from?
…The bank, of course.
You can open an account at the bank right at the tavern, and you can use the cash to gamble and to drink. You can't carry it away with you, and you can't buy it. Ask any member of the tavern staff if you want to know more.
